April 21, 2023Pamela saved money in her piggy bank as a child, hoping to buy a brand new bicycle someday. She grew up in rural Kentucky and had a close relationship with her favorite Uncle who didn’t have any children. On her birthday in 1967 her Uncle took her to the big city of Bowling Green to a Schwinn bicycle shop. She picked out a brand new purple Slik Chik bicycle. She paid for it with her savings from the piggy bank while her Uncle covered the rest of the costs. She has held on to the bike ever since that 10th birthday! The Schwinn bicycle shop is still in business in Bowling Green, Kentucky as well! Since she wanted to keep it as original as possible, Noel did not paint it. He cleaned up most of the chrome and sourced a NOS sissy bar because hers wouldn’t clean up. She wanted a purple glitter polo saddle with silver stripes, new pedals, new tires, tubes, and rim strips. When she saw the bicycle her face lit up! She was absolutely delighted. She can ride her bicycle again and remember good times from her childhood.
